Laws of Telnus

􀀃
Please take the time to read our laws.

You have landed in the capital city of the Isle of Cos, Telnus - an intense, adult, Gorean role play sim, privately owned, paid and maintained. The goal is to promote realistic and enjoyable role play for all involved. By teleporting down to the docks, you agree and acknowledge you accept the rules of the sim. The role players you will encounter are experienced, some are new, and enjoy intensive story lines.  Whining, non Gorean attempts at RP, declarations of limits, accusations of cheating and breaking sim rules will result in your removal from the sim.

!!MESH BUILD!!  It is important before you enter the sim you go into your quick preferences and set your LOD Factor up to 4.000.  The LOD setting will help you render mesh much better so that you may enjoy the sim.

SIM ENTRANCE: You land upon a ship inside the massive oceanic gates of the great city.  We ask that you take the time to make sure you have the proper GM meter and have read the rules of the Isle.

SUMMARY:
- AV's under 30 days are subject to Mod approval
- We do follow the books of Gor, not evolved Gor. (Femlaws will be removed from the sim immediately)
- No Kurs or Panthers/Taluna OR Ferals allowed upon the Isle of Cos unless brought in as a captive.  ((Sorry Panthers, this means not even dressed in a gown to steal.  This is an Island far from any land port, not a small village on the outskirts of a forest.))
- NO child like AV's.
- No griefing items (touch fires, ect). May result in ban.
- Permanent Capture until release, escape or death.
- Moderators of the Isle of Cos have only and final say.
- 90 minutes capture time minimal before rescue attempts.
- No observer tags
- No birding
- 10 minute safe landing only.  Please do not AFK for extended periods of time on the docks or ship.
- Women (slave or free) may NEVER accompany men on raids or attacks.
- Drama is simply not welcome upon our Isle and why we do welcome IC drama, we will quickly remove OOC drama.
- You MUST dress Gorean, no earth clothing allowed, NO observers allowed.
Isle of Cos backstory: Work in Progress

FREEWOMEN: May enter the Isle of Cos with or without an Escort. Free Women MUST be veiled upon the Isle.  They should always remember to act according to their role.  Un lady like behaviors or lack of proper dress can easily land a free woman upon the Isle in steel.  Free women are allowed to carry a hidden dagger, fan, fish, etc as well as poison hair pins in DEFENSE of themselves only (They must be attacked first).  No ranged weapons allowed.

SLAVES: Unowned slaves entering the Isle of Cos WILL be collared to the city and kept or sold for profit. A slave may not attack a Free, and should carry no weapon upon the Isle unless directed too by their owner. In which case, they are allowed Slave scripted weapon damage only.

KAJIRUS: Are allowed full damage weapons, (when permitted by a FREE and registered with the city) they are, after all, still men of Gor, with the same strength as any other man. Just because a man is Free, it does not make him stronger than a slave.

!WARNING!  If you have chosen the slave role, you have chosen to play one BTB upon the Isle, and while everyone's character is not from the books, we do expect you to, at the very least, follow the slave paces and know your role. If you are found to be unpleasing to the Free you will be killed or be sold from the Isle and unable to return.
􀀂
GOREAN ANIMALS: Yes, we do allow some of them. Giani, leems and small birds are welcome upon the Isle. They are not allowed any damage weapons, but must wear a regular GM meter.

TARNS: Tarns are not allowed except by citizens of Cos and not for combat on the Isle.

LIMITS: There are no RP limits here, except that the roleplay must be possible in Gor.  ((Only exception is rape roleplay and any NON gorean types of rp.))  We won't take time to read your profile and hunt for a LIMITS tab so, if you list something like - you can't be collared, naked or your head shaved, we ask that you please roleplay elsewhere.  Slaves restricted to their owners MUST wear a chastity belt, we don't care when it says your Master reserves you for himself, you are a slave, and the Free will use you in any way they see fit.  Bring your Master to rp the consequences, or find a softer sim to play in.

RAIDS:  Any invading force, regardless of number or origin may raid The Isle of Cos only once per week (7) days. We are about RP and not the pew pew attacks on a daily basis.  If you are rescuing a comrade that was taken in a raid you preformed within the 7 day period, you CAN NOT take any more captives. Ex: You raid and take hostages, but on the way out you leave a man behind and he gets caught.  You can come back after the Ninety minutes to rescue him, but if you capture anymore people you can not take them with you.

COMBAT: Tarns are not allowed except by citizens of Telnus and not for combat on the Isle.
􀀀
􀀁
RENTALS:  We do provide rentals to our citizens if they are interested.  125L weekly/40 prims. And smaller units for 75L weekly/25 prims.

Sim Mods:
Aeron Bellecoeur (Fox Bellecoeur)
Sorcha Bellecoeur (Donatelle Rossini)
Lotus Hutchence (Vanity Lotus)
Ethan Hutchence

Welcome to the Blue Caste of Telnus

Welcome to the Blue Caste of Telnus!

In the books, as we all know, people were born into their castes, most remaining there for their entire lifetime.
There were, of course, some exceptions to this.  Sometimes the free woman would take the caste of their male companion, particularly if this would "raise" her higher within the caste system.  Sometimes if a person was deemed suitable for another caste they could petition to change, and would then have to prove their ability and aptitude for the work of that particular caste.

"I knew the Gorean caste lines, though largely following birth, were not inflexible, and that a man who did not care for his caste might be allowed to change caste, if approved by the high council of his city, an approval usually contingent on his qualifications for the work of another caste and willingness of the members of the new caste to accept him as a Caste Brother."    ---Priest Kings of Gor, 9:71

This last is probably the most relevant to SL Gor, because anyone new to SL Gor will have to learn, and strive to become skilled and knowledgeable within their caste.  They will have to work hard and prove themselves before being accepted fully.  This holds true for every caste - it will take hard work and a quest for knowledge to succeed.

There are many different pathways to becoming a Scribe.  Being born (through role play) into the caste of Scribes is one way.  As well, there are academies and schools where you get a nice shiny certificate naming you a Scribe when you successfully finish the course.  However (as in the books) many Scribes start as an apprentice Scribe under the tutelage of a Chief Scribe and achieve the status of full Scribe when their mentor deems them worthy.   Is any one pathway better than the other?  I myself don't think so because to succeed on any path you take will require a desire to succeed along with hard work and perseverance.  It depends largely on who you are as a person and what you hope to accomplish.

A bit of background, my "pathway" if you will...
In my old Homestone I was fairly new to Gor and  just beginning to train as scribe when the Admin pulled everything from the Sim.   The Ubar/Sim owner was paying this person actual money to run the sim and she bought all the buildings with money he gave her specifically for that purpose above and beyond what he was paying her to Admin the sim.  Everything on the sim she bought with his money.  One day we all logged on and there was nothing but the prims we had put down (furniture etc...)  Everything else was gone!  The docks, ship, pathways, trees, buildings, EVERYTHING.  Including the library.  Naturally, many of the people there left except a handful of us and we all dug in to put it back together.  It took a month before we reopened, and along the way we lost more people.  Since I was the only scribe that had stayed, I said I would take on getting the library put back together.  I went all over Gor picking up notecards, talking to Chief Scribes etc... getting everything I needed to set up a new library.  I made new forms, basically starting from scratch.  So when it was done the Ubar (to my great surprise) appointed me Chief Scribe.  I had virtually no training and had pretty much learned on the run.

My point is, I have been Head or Chief Scribe of 4 cities now and I have never been formally trained - sometimes you just learn as you go and fortunately I am a quick learner.  Being a Scribe is about keeping records, being familiar with the laws, witnessing contracts, and helping people find the information they need, of course!   And a whole lot more!  But a lot of being a scribe is being able to think on your feet and deal with situations as they arise.   I trained myself by talking to other scribes and worked hard to keep things running smoothly.   If I didn't know, I asked!  If I was unsure, I sought out opinions from others within the Blue Caste.  That is what a scribe does - a scribe seeks to learn and better themselves and keep things organized within the city.    What path they take to get there may vary, but it is still a pathway to knowledge.

It is my hope that I can help you along YOUR pathway and give you the tools you need to be successful within the Blue Caste.   And in turn, someday it will be your responsibility to give back by helping  others on their path.

I have assigned _________ to be your instructor while going through your training.  If she is not available, please feel free to contact me at any time should you have questions or should you get stuck in a situation you are unsure of.

Again, welcome to the Blue Caste of Telnus!  I look forward to working with you!

Sincerely,
Jillian Serevi, (Jillian Daniels) High Scribe of Telnus
